Crowne Plaza Hilton Head Island Beach Resort is a special slice of Southern Hospitality who supports our Military Men and Women and offers discounts to those families attending the graduation. Finally, a hotel in Beaufort that offers an affordable rate to families in town for the graduation! They have undergone 3.5 million dollars in renovations and are now ready to make your stay fabulous! No need to leave your dogs at home, this is one of the very few pet-friendly hotels in Beaufort! They are located 6.5 miles from Parris Island. There is an onsite restaurant, Fryed Green Tomatoes, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. All guests of the Quality Inn receive a 10% discount for all meals. Between Memorial Day & Labor Day enjoy the largest outdoor pool in the area!

Please note the toll-free numbers listed below and call the facilities for more information. The rooms go very quickly so be sure and make the call just as soon as they start taking reservations for that particular week. I have no first-hand knowledge of them but I understand they are very nice.

Please take the information about making a reservation elsewhere early on seriously! Here is a story from a father who counted on the on-base housing:

"While planning for my sons graduation I was intent to get on the base housing and very well prepared to begin calling as the on base housing only takes reservations 14 or 15 days before Graduation date. I did not any contingencies and was shocked when I started calling @ 8:59 to get in. I was put on hold by auto voice and stayed there with recurring message of we are helping other customers please be patient.
I stayed on the phone waiting for 1hr 40 minutes and gave up. I even pulled out the other 3 cell phones in the household and had the same results. I am telling you this as now I had to get accommodations and nothing closer than 20 miles was available. If others do the same, I suggest confirming closer housing and cancel if they are able to get on base."

This was sent to me via email on 8/28/08 regarding the Osprey Inn. Thanks, Bob, for the info...

"Great site and lots of useful info. I am writeing you with information concerning the Osprey Inn on Base. I was able to get reservations today for the graduation on the 12th. they start taking reservations for graduation 15 days out. Anyone wanting on base should call the thursday before 2 weeks out. They will only start answering the phone at 0700. Once in the Que for the reservations desk, WAIT. I waited for between 20 and 30 min listening to their recorded message about high call volumes. I also suggest not waiting much past 0700 before calling, I called just as soon as my clock tripped to 0700 and was able to secure a room. I would also suggest that at least one phone in the house be set to as near atomic clock time as possible as time is of the essence when trying to get in to them.
